Smoke Chasing Trip 2 (4/8/11)
Well Here We Go again! I am off to State # 2 Louisiana. I am Stopping at Eddies BBQ Smokehouse. I first Stopped at the Eddies near the Airport. Had A great Chopped Sandwich. The Girl Working the register came out to take my picture, then looked at my receipt and it was not in Alexandria. So back on the bike and on into town . After finding Eddies #3 I had some Pecan Pieke my Picture ,I had Kelly take my picture. She was so nice and told me the owner was a Harley Freak I promised I would put her Picture on my page so here It is. Thanks Kelly for taking The shot of me.After Dinner and Pie It was off to the in laws in Harrisonburg La. For cake and a good nights rest.
After a big breakfast,it was on down the road. I took a route on secondary roads that was wonderful. Lots of flowers and little traffic. I made My way thru La. Ms. then into Mobil Alabama. Just before riding under the gulf I stopped for gas and refilled the Tank Bags with goodies. A sandwich some Cookies, fruit, Cheese n Crackers and a large Gatorade. I was not in Florida long before I was able to bag stop #3. Another of ” Eddies Favorites” Sonny’s Real Pit BBQ in Marianna Florida at I-10 and HW 71. The Place was packed so I grabbed a Chicken leg and bottle of sauce to go and was back on the road. Chicken legs are really easy to eat on the road. it had a great smoky flavor. I saved the sauce for a cookout when I get home.
I got the last room at a Comfort Inn just north of Miami, I had ridden 987 miles today bagged another state and was up to # 3 on my Smoke Chasing Tour. The morning of the 11th found me on the way to Key West it was not on the trip . I could have taken a picture at Rib Daddy’s in Key Largo and headed north But I just had to go take this this picture.
The turn around from the Main land to Key West and back was 8 hours of RV dodging torture at about 30 to 45 mph. When I got back to Key Largo I was ready for a good meal at Rib Daddy’s. It was Great! I had baby back ribs with all the fixings Checked my E-mail and drank a gallon of iced Tea. Chrissy Waited on me she had worked there for 14 years and was really excited to see Rib Daddy’s was in my passport book as one of Eddie’s Favorites.
From thereit was back on the road I had burned so much time crawling to Key West I decided to call it a day with only 690 miles for the day. I stayed at the Princess Inn near Gainesville. It was not great but it was clean and the let bikes park on the sidewalk 1 foot from their room door.It was 39.00 per night I really liked that. The next morning found me on the road again. I was headded for stops in Ga. AL. and MS. (More to Come tomorrow. I am Tired)
