SPANK 2010

The SPANK  is a great hosted each year by George Zlenz . For 2010 it was the 5 day format.Bon Bonus locations stretched from South California, to the Canadian Border. to Kanas City.,Mo. We started In Amagosa Valley NV. This is just down the street from Death Valley National Park.  we Finished up with a great BBQ in Denver Colorado. Which also coincided with the start of the 2010 Iron Butt National meet. It turned out to be 2 full weeks of nothing long distance motorcycling . The Shampoo Bonus! I stopped in near Leavenworth Kansas for this one.I love this Bonus I had been on the road for 4 days it was Awsom!

A sign located at the IBA memorial near Gerlach NV. It is truly where the road ends and the west begins. It is right smack in the middle of nowhere.This was part two of a great bonus Reno Jhonsd dinner and a show.

The show was the IBA memorial. The dinner  was a giant plate of ravioli served up at Bruno’s Country Club and Saloon located smack in the center of Gerlagh.The Ravioli was great there were a a bunch of us showed up here for this bonus. Once we left Gerlach, we headed off in many different directions.

I headed to Sheridan Wyoming to chunk a water melon from a trebuchet. Then  over to  Montana’s Nez Perse Monument.See the rain coming over my shoulder. Man did it pour!!Once off that mountain It was back south to Moab Utah. That ride I saw more deer than I knew were in Utah. I met up along the way with Dennis Powell (aka Iowa pig Farmer) . We were riding in on HW 12 b . We had All the light we could put on the road on and we still took turns leading just to give our nerves a break.We got into a room in Moab About 3:00 Am . Up and at at had to get the bonus at Landscape Arch at sunrise. Then hot foot it on south to Bluff Utah fo the Mandatory Check in At 11:00 am . For me I was the only rider To head east to Kanas City Mo. I picket up the bonus at the Famous Gates BBQ. It was down the street to get a picture of Rodins The Thinker East .

Then I had to hot foot it back to Colorado.I still had two more bonus points I wanted to try for. I made it back to Denver late that night, and got some good sleep. The next morning found a bunch of us headed up Mount Evans, Colorado. This is the highest ridable point in the US

.( If you remember my 0first boni was the lowest point ,pretty cool its only been 5 days. )When we got to the top of Mount Evans we were greeted with 80 mph wind and 5deg temps. Some guy in a Pickup parked his Truck for a wind block so we could park our bikes.

After that back down the mountain to Idhao Springs to Snap a Picture with IBA founder Michale Kneebone then a Quick 45 min ride back to Denver to the finish line with a whopping 10 min. to spare! The 2010 Spank was a great time .it ended up at the Iron Butt National Meet . This was a weekend full of Rides ,Seminars dealing with long distance riding, tire kicking and great food .
