My New Carman Allen Seat
Well it is finally complete ! Another work of art created by my friend Carman. He is a custom boot maker by trade, but does enough time on a bike to know what makes a seat work for the long haul. We started with a stock seat pan, then spent the better part of a day adding foam of different density to bring it to a full 5 inches wider than stock. We took foam out of the front to make it easier for me at stoplights. Then put in more in the seating area. Carman had me take it out for about a 60 mile spin with a beautiful blue masking tape cover. When I returned we removed a bit of foam here and there, and added some in a few places. Then I took it home for the weekend. Over that weekend I put several hundred miles on the bare foam. The fit was almost perfect with one exception. We did not take into account that all my riding gear has Spine protection in the back. No problem for Carman he took the jacket thickness from the backrest and went to work on the art work design. We again chose the Cowboy/biker style somewhat like the Gold Wing seat he built me last year.It turned out better and more comfortable than I could have ever expected. Thanks Carman beautiful work!!!
